Cynthia F. Carter is a seasoned singer and actress she is thrilled to be back in Chicago after a brief stint in Los Angeles and returning to the main stage here at the Black Ensemble theatre.
While in LA Cynthia had the pleasure of completing student films for Azusa Pacific University of Southern California and The California Institute of the Arts. She also completed several short films one of which, “The Watchers” won best Sci-Fi short film at the Los Angeles Independent film showcase. Cynthia has been singing most of her life nationally and internationally.
Cynthia first graced the BET stage in 2007 with, “Memphis Soul the story of Stax’s Records ” where Hedy Weiss of the Chicago Sun times deemed her…”a sensational singer” and where she earned nominations from both the Black Theatre Alliance and the African American Arts Alliance of Chicago for “Best featured Actress” in a play and “Outstanding Actress”.
Over the years Cynthia has been apart of several productions here at Black Ensemble theatre from “The Other Cinderella” to “From Doo woop to Hip-Hop”. Cynthia is a senior member of the Black Ensemble Theater and chooses to stand on every promise from the creator believing for her life II Corn.9:8
